LI Update - August 11, 2009

Time cards and electronic time entry

• Electronic time entry for the period of 8/1 – 8/15 is due on Saturday, 8/15.

• Completed time cards for the period of 8/1 – 8/15 are due to me on Wednesday, 8/12.

Please note the due date for time cards! Nancy will be out of the office starting Thursday for a week and a half; therefore, if your time cards are turned in after Wednesday, you may not be paid on time.

Pay increase. Just a reminder that as of 8/1, the hourly rate for noncredit instructors has been increased to $22.35/hr. This will not be reflected on your pay of 8/15, as that pay covers the period of 7/16 – 7/31. You should see the increase on the pay of 8/31. If you do not, please let me know right away so we can have the situation corrected.

Final tests updated. The final tests for Basic English 3 and Basic English 6 have been updated so that answers can be marked on Scantron sheets instead of in the test booklet. This will have three advantages:

• Scoring of tests can be done much more quickly and efficiently with the Scantron machine.
• Because of this, students will be able to have their results sooner.
• Because test booklets will not be marked, we will be able to use them more than once, which will save paper (and the costs of duplication!).

Observations. Once again I will be coming around to do brief in-class observations as my schedule permits, so don’t be surprised if you see me slip into the back of your class for a while!
